FIRST IN VIETNAM
AFTER THE FRENCH DEBACLE IN 1954, PRESIDENT DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER PROMISED DIRECT AID TO THE REPUBLIC OF SOUTH VIETNAM. IN 1957. THAT IS WHEN THE
1ST SFG\ABN ARRIVED IN COUNTRY TO TRAIN MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH VIETNAMESE ARMY.TRAINING WAS DONE AT THE COMMANDO TRAINING CENTER, LOCATED AT
NHA TRANG. THIS BEGAN THE OFFICIAL INVOVLEMENT U.S. ARMY SPECIAL FORCES IN VIETNAM WHICH LASTED FROM 1957 TO 1971. OF COURSE DURING THAT TIME PERIOD
THERE WAS OVER 500,00 U.S. TROOPS IN VIETNAM. I WILL NEVER FORGET THIS EXPERIENCE FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE, AND I WOULDN'T TRADE THAT EXPERIENCE FOR ANYTHING
ELSE THAT I HAVE DONE DURING MY LIFETIME.

I THANK GOD EVERY CHANCE I CAN THINK OF IT FOR GETTING ME THRU IT BECAUSE I LOST FIVE PERSONAL FREINDS AND MY HALF BROTHER THAT USED TO GO TO
SCHOOL WITH ME. GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS NO MATTER WHERE THEY GO.
